The Sulis String Quartet - String Quartet

This quartet is based in Bath and has been playing for weddings and functions since 2004. They have been regularly playing for Bath University Graduation ceremonies and have performed in many local venues including Babington House, The Priory Hotel, The Guildhall and Assembly Rooms in Bath.

Membership in the quartet is flexible, but the regular players include a cellist who has been a soloist with orchestras in the area and teaching since playing with the Orquesta Filarmonica of Gran Canaria in Las Palmas, and a viola player who is an experienced soloist and chamber musician.
The first violin is Tim Robb who led the Bath Symphony Orchestra for many years, teaches and conducts several orchestras in Bath and is also the father of Geoff Robb who runs this website! The second violinist has played professionally in London for many years.

Their repertoire is very comprehensive – everything from the classics to Gershwin and they can offer most regularly requested items like the Arrival of the Queen of Sheba, Mozart’s Divertimenti and Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, Pachabel’s Canon and traditional wedding marches by Mendelssohn and Wagner.

They enjoy playing favourites from the operatic repertoire and lighter items by Elgar and Mancini etc. With sufficient notice they can often find or arrange special requests. They even have arrangements of Albinoni’s Adagio for organ and strings and a movement from Schubert’s Trout Quintet!

Most bookings are in the Bath area, but for an additional fee they are prepared to travel within a reasonable distance.
