The UK Senegalese Blues Band is a West African contemporary fusion band with strong roots in the Baye Fall tradition from Touba (Senegal).

The line up of The UK Senegalese Blues Band combines an outstanding West-African percussion section with some of the finest UK instrumentalists, topped with the outstanding vocal power of their renowned Senegalese singer.

The band's singer has been based in the UK for the last 20 years and has fronted a number of bands, singing in his native tongue of Wolof. Wolof belongs to the Senegambian branch of the Niger-Congo language and borrows words from French and Arabic.

The main percussionist with The UK Senegalese Blues Band is from Gambia. He runs workshops and festivals around the UK and showcases a variety of traditional rhythms on such drums as the Djembe, Sabar and Talking Drum, creating an ecstatic bed below the bluesy loops of the Senegalese Blues Band.

The singer and percussionist are joined by a guitarist, bass player and drummer / keyboard player but also collaborate with other musicians in various alternative line ups. They can offer a smaller 5 piece line-up or the full 7 piece band.

Their music creates a hypnotic transcendent throng that will lure you to the dance floor. Although based in Brighton, East Sussex, The UK Senegalese Blues Band are available for bookings across the UK.
