Andalucia - Latin Guitar Duo
This lively guitar duo are based in Bath and are available for weddings, functions and concerts in the West country and beyond. They play a wide mix of Latin Jazz and Brazilian music as well as Flamenco.
They have been performing professionally together for 10 years, with many shows throughout the UK and Europe, and at venues as diverse as Henley Regatta, Blenheim Palace and Glastonbury Festival.
One guitarist studied Flamenco in Andalucia, and now performs and teaches in the UK and Spain, whilst the other is a classically trained performer with many tours and festivals under his belt, and extensive airplay on BBC Radio 3
The flamenco player began playing at 17, jumping in at the deep end, learning jazz theory, which he applied to his then punk performances. He decided to switch to flamenco guitar and went to Spain to study technique and palos with various guitarists in Andalucia, including Jaun Diego, Ricardo de la Joana and Mick Jingle. He returned to England and is currently guitarist for Britain's largest touring flamenco company. He also teaches Flamenco and jazz guitar technique and theory in the UK and Spain, including workshops this year at Jerez Flamenco Festival.
The classical guitarist studied piano and violin classically as a child, with masterclasses with Sir Peter Maxwell-Davies and the Coull Quartet. He took up guitar in his teens and played a variety of styles, ultimately leading to forming global dance band, Le Cod Afrique, performing throughout Europe, with many festival shows including Montreux Jazz Festival, WOMAD and Glastonbury. He now also works with Sierra Leonean master drummer Jah-man Aggrey in a duo, and in an African Funk project .
They are available for festivals, arts centres, corporate events, weddings and restaurants.
