The Co Mayo Trad Band - Contemporary Trad Band
The Co Mayo Trad Band are an exciting trad/folk/rock band from Co. Mayo on the West coast or Ireland.
The band have been playing together since 2016, and have developed an eclectic set list that includes “real” traditional Irish music, famous Irish folk songs, rock songs done by famous Irish bands, some original material and a few surprises!! The sets are lively but include some old Irish ballads to give everyone a chance to sing along.
They are available for weddings, parties and all kinds of events and they play a mix of trad music alongside pop tunes performed in their own unique folky style, giving a touch of trad to the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Feargal Sharkey, The Boomtown Rats and others.
The Co Mayo Trad Band have residencies in one the top 10 most famous pubs in Ireland and a local exclusive Castle, including a performance for The Edge’s daughters wedding and all of U2 were in attendance!
A night with The Co Mayo Trad Band will give the attendees a good taste of all of the different flavours of Irish music from traditional reels and jigs to Irish punk and everything in between.
Band members
The guitarist/vocalist has been a well known musician in the west of Ireland for 40 years. Coming originally from a blues/rock background he has developed a unique style for Irish folk and traditional music that would give music more of a drive than usual.
The fiddle player/vocalist is a multi-award winning fiddle player coming originally from a traditional music background where she won multiple All-Ireland honours with the famous Bridge Ceili Band. She now enjoys the freedom of expressing her talent in all genres of music.
The flute & whistle player / vocalist is originally from Liverpool where he learnt to play Irish music and also won multiple All-Ireland awards before spending time playing with Celtic rock bands Rattle ‘n’ Reel and Cullain (2 very popular bands in the UK on the Irish pub circuit)
The percussion moved to the west of Ireland in 2005 from Poland. He studied percussion in America in the University of Hartford and the famous Berklee College of music before returning to Poland and playing with some of the biggest artists in Poland. He was also a musician on the Polish Strictly Come Dancing. Since coming to Ireland he has performed with many big artists including Damien Dempsey, Mundy, Sharon Shannon to name but a few and is highly regarded and sought after musician.
