Dora Briggs - Celtic Harpist
Originally from West Yorkshire and now based in North Norfolk, this harpist studied music and singing under one of the principle singers of Opera North; and after moving to Norfolk 10 years ago was inspired to take up the Celtic harp after seeing and hearing one perform at her own wedding! She says:
"The Celtic Harp is the perfect instrument for me because it sounds beautiful on its own but also mixes well with the voice. It has the same beauty and evocation as the Concert Harp, but being smaller it fits nicely into smaller venues as well as having the volume to fill out the larger ones."
In 2013 she had an electric pick-up fitted to her harp, giving it the added volume needed to fill even the largest venue!
She plays a mixture of classical, folk and popular music (plus some rock standards you might not expect to hear on a harp!).
