The Devon Harpist - Harpist

This Devon based wedding harpist was born in Hampshire. She read music at Exeter University, travelling to the Royal College of Music in London for her harp studies. She now gives around one hundred performances a year from formal recitals in historic houses or on specialist arts cruises to weddings and funerals. Her compositions have been used by ITV, the BBC and by Irish, Japanese and Canadian film, radio and television.
In 2006 she was the only British performer to be shortlisted for Best Classical Event Award in the combined Brighton Festivals, England's largest Arts Festival.

Her unique research into Victorian Fairy Harp Music has led to many quaint adventures - a CD with worldwide distribution; radio and TV broadcasts including a half-hour Radio 4 documentary; a West End stage show with actor Simon Callow for which she also wrote the songs; appearances at the Royal Academy of Art exhibition of Victorian fairy paintings and at Prince Charles' unveiling of the restored Elfin Oak Tree in Kensington Gardens; involvement in the major French exhibition Dragons, Elfes et Fées, and an appearance in the award-winning Canadian television documentary The Fairy Faith: all this and more besides making her England's unofficial Fairy Harpist!

Her uniquely rich tone on the harp has graced several film/TV soundtracks including more than fifty episodes of ITV's magical children's series Bernard's Watch which has been shown in over 30 countries including America, Canada, Iceland, Kenya, Iran, South Africa, Poland and Cyprus.
Weddings
The golden harp is perfect for weddings! It is romantic and stylish. During civil ceremonies - which can so easily be short and soulless - it adds grace and dignity and lifts the event into an entirely different league.

In a church the magical sound is sparkling and unforgettable. A harp solo beautifully fills the time whilst the bride and groom disappear into the vestry to sign the registers.

During the reception the music creates a relaxing ambiance, cushioning the conversation so there are no awkward silences, and generally enhancing the atmosphere, without ever being intrusive. She plays a huge cross-section of musical styles from light classical to popular song tunes, so there is something for all the guests to enjoy.

The Devon Harpist - Harpist Feedback

I was so glad to have her play the harp on our wedding day. We booked her a year and a half before the date and she immediately got in contact with us. Communication was excellent, so I never had any worries. On the day, she played Moon River as I walked down the aisle which will always be a highlight of the day because she played it so magnificently. She was extremely friendly to talk to and her music throughout the whole day including the drinks reception was outstanding.

E S, Lulworth Castle, Wedding (December 2022)

Everything went smoothly and the arrangements were easy and straightforward. The harpist made contact early and was easy to communicate with, she was very flexible about times and arrangements which was so helpful, she arrived early to set up and followed the programme - and mood - of the evening. She is a lovely, warm person with a great energy, she accommodated all our requests and played beautifully during the reception drinks and during our meal, bringing people together that had not seen each other for a long time. It became so much more of a celebration having such wonderful live music to accompany our evening.

KF, Exeter University, Corporate Event (October 2021)

Many thanks for your wonderful playing. Everyone said how wonderful it was and how amazing you looked. We heard a lot from the registrar office and during the ceremony. It made the special day just perfect.

Colin and Rachel,

Thank you for playing at our wedding on Sunday. All of our guests commented on how much they enjoyed listening to you play your harp - it was all perfect! I was delighted to hear one of my favourites (Somewhere from West Side Story) as we signed the register. Thank you also for playing Sailing as I walked in. I would not hesitate to book you again for another event or function. With best wishes

Rachel and Geoff,

Just so lovely that you could be part of Lucy & Naca's special day - thank you so much. Your empaty, ability and sheer good fun just shine through.

Sue,

I just wanted to say thank you again for playing at our wedding. We had a lovely day and it really added to the atmosphere. I think it actually made me feel less nervous when I heard it before walking in!

Gemma,

Thank you so much for your beautiful playing last Saturday at our wedding. All our guests were commenting on how amazing your playing was throughout the day. Many thanks again for creating such a romantic mood for our wedding - we couldn't have asked for anything more.

Sianna and Jaime,

We would like to thank you for playing the harp so beautifully for Liz and Rob. It was a wonderful service and so many guests commented how much they enjoyed the harp. It really was the icing on the cake .

Carolyn and Neil,

Just wanted to write to thank you for the fantastic job you did on Saturday, making Simon and Joe's wedding breakfast so special. So many people said to us afterwards how lovely your playing was. It was a special moment when you played for the little ones, and let them play the harp.

Brenda and John,

Thank you for making our Wedding Day Perfect. It was so lovely walking into the Bathing Hut and seeing you look so lovely playing beautiful music. You were a joy to have there with us and a joy to listen to such beautiful playing. Sending lots of love to you.

Jayne & Glenn,

It was wonderful having you play for us. You are a very special person, and it was lovely to have spent time in your company.

, Dartmouth Royal Naval College

Everyone said that you absolutely made the wedding. We cannot thankyou enough for all your support and good will. From our very first conversation, your enthusiasm and energy made me very excited about you being part of our day. It was a real pleasure to have you touch our lives.

,

We were all enchanted by your presence and delighted by the magical sound of your playing. You really did add something extraordinarily special that far exceeded our expectations.

,

We wanted to tell the harpist how lovely her music was and how special she made it all for us. We are so happy the whole day went wonderfully! Even though I did not have a spare second to speak to her about the music beforehand she took it in her stride and played a beautiful selection of harp music with absolutely no notice. It was really appreciated! I would recommend her to anyone in a heartbeat. Very impressed indeed. Best wishes
