The Medieval Minstrels - Medieval Minstrels

These medieval minstrels are a trio of two musicians and a dancer with a passion for 12th to 17th century European music and dance and are the core members of a large medieval music and dance-theatre company.

They can be booked as soloists or as a duo or larger group. Between them they play an exotic array of authentic early instruments to a very high standard these include: Hurdy Gurdy, Bagpipes, Gothic Harp, Recorders, Pipe and Tabor, Pipe and Salterio, Cittern, Citole, Percussion.

For added impact and to make your event unique and dramatic, their dancer can be booked to appear disguised as various masked, mythical, dancing creatures which include a beautiful unicorn, a woodwose, and a dragon on stilts. He can also appear as a dashing Spanish Tudor courtier and can perform absolutely mesmerising solo dances. He can lead your party in a wild 'historical ceilidh' should you so desire. The trio can also perform and process as medieval masked devils whilst playing bagpipes, hurdy gurdy and percussion, which makes a very arresting spectacle.

The members each have over fifteen years of experience performing, touring, and teaching both in the UK, Europe and Scandinavia and are considered to be amongst the best in their fields. They have made several appearances on film soundtracks, starred in C5 programme 'Time Warp Wedding' and have been played on Radio 3 many times.

The Hurdy Gurdy player from this group is available as a Solo Hurdy Gurdy player

The Medieval Minstrels - Medieval Minstrels Feedback

They were an absolute dream to work with! From the thorough conversations I had with Steve prior to the big day, I felt comfortable that I had booked total professionals. On the day, they were punctual, dressed impeccably and most importantly played the most gorgeous music during our ceremony and canapés reception as discussed. As the bride, in hindsight, I think the only thing I could have been worried about is being upstaged by the band! Our guests loved them so much, and probably the most prominent feedback we had from all our guests was about how incredible the medieval musicians were. Thank you so much for being a part of our day and making it so true to us - I would not hesitate to book you again for future parties!

Everything went really well, and beyond my expectations :) Excellent hurdy gurdy and bagpipe performance! The audience was captivated and engaged, and he made sure to really create a friendly atmosphere and walk us through the history of the hurdy gurdy and explain how the music is played. My husband loved it. It was a great birthday gift :) Thank you so much for your generosity when sharing your story and experience with us.

Fantastic Medieval music from our Minstrel!

Emma-Jayne Ward, The George Inn, Themed Event (January 2022)

The act went beyond expectations. The performers read the audience and engaged with them, such as discussing their instruments, how they were made etc. Medieval costumes superb. Very punctual and ready before required time. Booking straight forward. There was excellent communication prior to event.

Richard Cunningham, , Party (October 2018)

Were you happy with the act? Yes, and more so - the performers entered into the spirit event fully.

Peter Lacey, , none (September 2018)

The musicians were perfect professionals, pleasant to work with and mega talented. Perfectly able to entertain and educate and as mentioned before worked the event to perfection. I would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone planning a period function. Many thanks for all your help. I’ll know who to approach if I need any assistance with entertainment in the future!
