The Lanarkshire Flamenco Guitarist - Flamenco Guitarist
The Lanarkshire Flamenco Guitarist completed his Masters in Performance in 2006 and holds a first class BMus Honours and a Post Graduate Diploma from the RSAMD.
He has won the Orphee and Chanterelle guitar prizes and the historical ERCU trophy (Edinburgh Festival), where he was also a concerto finalist. He has won the Dundee Guitar Festival scholarship, and has been a runner-up in the Ivor Mairants Guitar Award (London).
At the age of eighteen, he toured with Scottish Ballet's production of Carmen. Since then he has performed Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, with the Rein Philharmonic Orchestra (Germany), the Friends of the Edinburgh Festival Orchestra. He has also toured Europe with the European Vacations Chamber Orchestra. In 2006 he performed Rodrigo's Concierto para un Fiesta with the RSNO.
The Lanarkshire Flamenco Guitarist has performed at the Dundee Guitar Festival, the Irish Guitar Festival (Derry), the Lewes Guitar Festival and the Ullapool Guitar Festival, and is making another appearance at this years Dundee Guitar Festival and the Ullapool Guitar Festival by popular demand.
He enjoys composing for the guitar and has also arranged many Spanish orchestral works for this instrument. His music has been performed by the Scottish Guitar Duo and recently by Allan Neave at Celtic Connections (The Island Tapes). He has also played his own music on Radio Ulster and for Spanish and British Television.
As a flamenco guitarist, The Lanarkshire Flamenco Guitarist is in great demand. He regularly performs with Glasgow based trio Deseo, Edinburgh based troup Las Babuchas and renowned flamenco dancer Felipe de Algeciras. He has also worked in collaboration with guitarists Ricardo Garcia and Ramon Ruiz and is currently involved in an innovative project with Spanish saxophonist Alberto Carmona and pianist Jesus Bravo.
