The Dublin Acoustic Duo - Trad Duo
The Dublin Acoustic Duo bring together a considerable wealth of musical talent and experience, recording albums, writing songs and tunes and touring extensively.
They met up in Dublin in 2007 when both artists had reached a crossroads in their respective careers.
The Whistle Player had earlier just finished touring America and Europe with The Fureys, having been on the road for 10 years playing with The Fureys and Davey Arthur and the Dublin City Ramblers in theaters across the US and the UK including Dollywood with Dolly Parton.
Having come from humble beginnings, he was sound 'man' at the age of 15 for his Fathers band 'The Dublin's Rogues', and started picking up the penny whistle and ended up on stage instead of running the sound. He later added multiple instruments to his vast musical arsenal including Bass Guitar, Acoustic Guitar and basically anything you can squeeze, blow, pluck, or strum a note from, he can play with relative ease.
His mastery on whistle however has been his signature musical statement. With an extensive recording career and hectic touring schedules his enchanting musical abilities landed him back in Dublin in 2007, earning a much needed break.
The Guitarist started playing in Dublin in mostly sing-song sessions in Dublin's pubs, but with the recession dragging through the 80's, emigration was the only option. He packed his bag and guitar, went to New York, then crossing the US and ended up in The Irish Rover Pub in Santa Monica, California. From playing the Irish Rover he formed The Young Dubliners and ensuing recording contracts led to writing and recording.
Extensive touring across the US to sell out shows including 18 sold out shows at The House Of Blues Sunset Strip, sharing stages with legends including The WolfeTones, The Fureys, Christy Moore, Shane McGowan, The Commitments, Paddy Reilley, Don McLean, Maura O'Connell and even Johnny Lydon.
Having recorded several critically acclaimed albums, some of his music found its way into Hollywood movie soundtracks which also included a short acting career. After fatigue from constant performances, in 2001 he headed back to Dublin to raise his family and get some rest.
When The Dublin Acoustic Duo was in its infancy, it was clear that these two were destined to meet. Both artists bringing what they had learned as musicians and being tenderly respectful to the craft, with a reverence for the culture of Irish Music, they went about fusing their respective styles and creating some music that is truly in the realm of the Celt.
With a devotion to tradition and a craving for innovation The Dublin Acoustic Duo brings a fresh scent of fragrant music that can bring you into another realm, if you are willing to journey.
