The London Chinese Lion Dancers - Chinese Lion Dance Group
Looking for a Chinese Lion Dance Group? Our Chinese Lion Dancers are led by an 8th generation Kung Fu Sifu (master) from London who has been involved in Chinese New Year celebrations since he was a child.
The lion dance is one of the most important traditions of the festival for the Chinese community, going back over thousands of years, and brings good fortune and chase away evil spirits.
The Chinese Lion Dancers have several lions, and each one usually has two dancers inside - one who controls the head, while the other forms the rear of the lion.
The tradition is a form of dance intended to scare away evil spirits and bring good luck to the audience, but it is also a way for a kung fu school to showcase their students and demonstrate their abilities.
You will always find lions at Chinese New Year celebrations, parties and parades but also for birthdays, weddings, business events and any other type of event where good luck is needed!
You will often find a 'Monk' or 'God of Wealth' mascot performing with the dragons and the 'God of Wealth' mascot brings good luck and good fortune, and is normally seen with the lions during Chinese New Year.
They act as a spotter for the lions when they are doing the more tricky stunts but also add comedy and crowd control
The Chinese Lion Dancers' performance can be performed to recorded backing tracks, or with live musicians. A drummer is used to represent the lion's heartbeat and you may also have a gong player and cymbal player (these help to scare away evil spirits)
Guide price is based on a team of 10 performers.
They offer a 15 minute performance and can lead the lantern parade and are also happy for the community to have their photos taken with the lions and God of Wealth.
