Pete Jacks - Bagpiper
This Devon based Ceremonial Highland Bagpiper is available for weddings, parties, Burns Nights, New Year’s Eve celebrations, corporate events and funerals.
The Highland Piper can also recite ‘The address to the Haggis’ for Burns Night suppers or any other appropriate occasion
With over 20 years’ experience of playing the Highland Bagpipes professionally and an extensive repertoire in both Scottish and Irish traditions he can play music appropriate to any occasion.
He is a good communicator and will help with tune selection, positioning, timing if needed to help the day go smoothly. He will wear No 1, or No 2 dress (see gallery images), whichever is appropriate; you may decide.
Dressed in kilt and full highland piping regalia, he adds a touch of nobility to any event. His music ranges from the stirring melancholy of slow airs such as ‘Dark Isle’, ‘She moved through the fair’ and ‘Amazing Grace’, through traditional marches such as, ‘Scotland the brave’, ‘Black Bear’ and ‘Marie’s wedding’ to party appropriate pieces such as ‘Flower of Scotland’, ‘Happy birthday’ and ‘Auld Lang Syne’. He also plays fast jigs and reels to get everyone dancing.
Funeral Piper
He has played for funerals for over 20 years and understands what is needed to help ease a difficult and emotional day.
Usually available at short notice, he can help advise on tune selection, positioning, timing etc; and will work with the family of the deceased, funeral director and vicar if needed.
He will normally play in No2 dress with black tie and socks unless requested to play in No1 dress (see gallery images).
