The Yorkshire Accordionist is an experienced professional accordion player who can play Italian or French music for themed events and also enjoys performing for weddings.
The Yorkshire Accordionist's work has included a large variety of functions and musical styles, as a soloist and with a major symphony orchestras such as the BBC Symphony Orchestra. He has worked in theatres throughout the UK in various roles as an actor, musician and composer, most recently in the AJTC Theatre Company and York Theatre Royal co-production ‘Bin Men’.
As a teacher The Yorkshire Accordionist has worked at every level, from beginner to advanced, both in private practice and at the very best educational establishments such as Chetham’s, Leeds College of Music and Leeds Metropolitan University.
The Yorkshire Accordionist has played the accordion since he was seven years old. He has an honours degree in music from Sheffield University where his teachers included Professor Owen Murray, currently head of the accordion department at the Royal Academy of Music.
As a performer The Yorkshire Accordionist has worked with orchestras such as the BBC Symphony, the Halle, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and Opera North. As an actor/musician he has performed extensively throughout the UK in mainstream theatre, theatre in education and rural touring networks. His work has led to performances in London at the BBC Proms and the Royal National Theatre.
He also enjoysperforming at concerts, weddings, corporate and civic functions, art exhibitions, department stores and even on trains!
