Three’s a Crowd - Jazz Trio

Looking for a Jazz trio for a wedding or event? These 3 musicians met on the London band circuit and came together over their love of jazz. They specialise in providing high quality jazz for weddings and private functions in London and the South East.

The lead vocalist Rebecca also leads her own indie band and her last album was hailed by Lauren Laverne on BBC Radio 6 Music, reaching the People’s Playlist, as well as a number of other well-known DJs. She regularly collaborates with other artists, in a variety of genres from folk to electronic music. She has performed at Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party and had multiple gigs in Germany, France and the States. She also works as a vocal coach and voice teacher for actors. A lifelong performer, she worked as a professional actress before finding music, originally training at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

The piano is a writer and composer working with music for TV, London DJs, such as Medlar and Malin-linnea and most recently composing the soundtrack for a documentary for the South Kensington Doll’s House Festival. He also leads his own band, collaborating with other musicians around London. He has played at a number of well-known venues and festivals including the O2, Glastonbury and Brighton’s Concorde 2. He completed a BA in music and visual arts in 2010 at Brighton University.

The percussionist and drummer is also a songwriter and leads a number of other musical collaborations. His solo work is released under the music label BBE (JDilla, will.i.am, Spoek Mathambo, Phantogram). He was recently commissioned to write an acappella piece and direct a choir for the ROOT 1066 International Festival. He leads and collaborates with a number of improvisation ensembles and studio projects and is currently working as an assistant composer for Barefoot Opera.

Collectively the members of the trio have performed at events across the UK, Europe and The States, and are known for their playful, lighthearted, yet elegant approach to their music. (Photography by Kriszpian Sipos)

Three’s a Crowd - Jazz Trio Feedback

The trio create a familial conversation that richly heats up into exciting rapport. The rhythm section of piano and drums provide outstanding support and dynamic solos to the emotional depth of Rebecca's voice. They are not your usual trio and their rhythmic groove is at times unexpected, and they certainly prove to be very responsive to the music’s underlying flow. Their use of dynamics, improvisation and interpretation of jazz, romance and impressionism satisfies both those fans holding on to tradition and those looking for future directions.

Ben (Advertising Executive, party),

I’ve had so many compliments about you. You were so friendly and helpful. Thanks for all your hard work.

David Murphy (Hotel Manager),

You were such good sports, you really made the night, and you even joined in with our ‘wear a dreadful christmas jumper’ theme! Same again next year then?

Richard,

Spent the most glorious evening in the company of this hugely talented and charismatic trio. Their set struck the perfect balance of nostalgic jazz standards and more contemporary re-imaginings, laid-back and upbeat numbers... all delivered with such an obvious love of playing live together, you couldn't help but fall for them.

Matthew,

Thank you all so much for your wonderful performance the other night - three days later and I'm still humming songs from the set! You set the perfect atmosphere for our event and thoroughly charmed everyone in the room. I also wanted to thank you for being such a pleasure to deal with from start to finish. I'll be looking for an opportunity to book you again!

Alex,
