Kypito - Festival Greek Band

This band play rhythmic and soulful original modern Greek music, strongly influenced by Greek traditional, Gypsy and island music - ideal for festivals and concerts.

Original and modern Greek music, strongly influenced by Greek traditional, Gypsy and island music. Virtuoso bouzouki and distinctively soulful vocals with the strong rhythmic grooves of Gypsy guitar, Syrian darbouka and a rocking English back-line.

The band compose and arrange their own songs, all of which are strongly influenced and inspired by Greek traditional (Laiko), Gypsy (Yiftiko) and island music (NisYotiko), but also by the band's diverse cultural and musical backgrounds, including more modern aspects which are sensitively integrated into their electric-acoustic sound.

The singer's family come from the Greek Island of Kalymnos but he was born and brought up in England. After discovering the bouzouki aged eight, he studied at the Athens School of Music and then honed his playing technique under the tuition of Maestro Petros Kalodoukas on Kalymnos. He has played with Andipas, Hadzithakina, Demis Roussos and has more recently composed and toured with the Max Pashm Band. He is also featured on the CDs "The Beginners Guide to Greece" and "The Athens Bar" compilation.

Since the Band was formed in 2008 they have been going down a storm at monthly Greek nights and have had regular airplay on Greek FM.
