The 1950s was a turning point for popular music in both the USA and the UK, it was known as the ‘birth of rock’n’roll with Elvis flustering the hearts of young teenagers and Chuck Berry destroying the old safety nets of music with his clever lyrics and distinctive sounds. Artists such as Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard and Gene Vincent were also topping the charts with raucous rock ‘n’ roll tunes.
At this time there was also other legends including Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennet and Bobby Darin (you can check out our swing singers available for hire here). Johnny Cash and Hank Williams also defined the Country and Western style of music during the 50s. Johnny Cash’s music was more of a country sound with a ‘rockabilly’ influence.
